4 Killed, 20 Wounded in Car Bomb in Northern Israel

A powerful car bomb exploded Wednesday evening near a local bus at a bus stop in Israel's northern city of Hadera, killing four people.

Israel radio reported that at least 20 others were wounded in the explosion, five of them in critical condition.

The blast occurred at around 17:30 p.m. (1530 GMT) in Hanasi Street, a main street in Hadera and a number of shops have been damaged, Israeli police said.

No one has claimed responsibility for the car bomb attack.

Hadera is city between the coastal cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Right-Wingers Call for War Against Palestinians

Tens of thousands of Israeli right-wingers held demonstrations Wednesday night in Zion Square in Jerusalem, calling for a war against the Palestinians.

The demonstrators also urged Prime Minister Ehud Barak to let the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to "do what it wants" to suppress Palestinian protestors.

Bomb Explodes in Israeli Town

A car packed with nail-studded explosives blew up next to a crowded Israeli commuter bus in the coastal city of Hadera Wednesday, sending the bus flying into a building as victims writhed on the ground and nearby stores burst into flames. Two Israelis were killed and more than 50 were hurt. The blast was blamed on Palestinian militants, further dampening hopes for an Israeli-Palestinian truce anytime soon. Israel said that it held Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat ultimately responsible and that it would retaliate.
