IT Security Industry Center Set up in Central China
A new information technology (IT) security industry center was established Wednesday in Hubei, capital of central China's Hubei Province.
This is China's third IT security industry center. The other two are based in Shanghai and Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The Hubei Information Technology Security Industry Center, co-sponsored by the Hubei Provincial Department for Science and Technology, the Hubei Provincial Department for the Information Technology Industry and four other organizations, is designed to promote a smooth development of the country's IT industry.
The center will focus on research and development of various IT security technology and products.
Local sources said the new center is based in Wuhan because the city is home to a large number of IT security experts.
Over the last decade, the city has developed a variety of IT security products like a data encrypting system and a security audit system.
Security System Takes Shape
Computer information security system has basically taken shape in China. There are over 230 companies manufacturing products related to computer-safety with 335 kinds of products being licensed as ones special for computer safety, and some of them are almost matching the international level of the same type of products.
Internet has sneaked into every corner of people's work and study, and is now profoundly changing the life of the people.
However, it also triggered off Internet safety problem, such as online loss of secrecy and stealing, spread of harmful information, increasing attacks by hackers to the Internet. Some departments do not have enough awareness and knowledge about computer safety problems and the potential risks.
The measures taken for self-protection and prevention remain not quite effectual and we also see lagged behind in the research, development and application on the IT and related products for the protection of Internet safety. The precaution and prevention ability is on the whole lower than expected.
