China Reaches Advanced World Level in Its Aero Parts Development

The aviation Computer Integration Manufacturing System (Aviation CIMS Project for short), a key technological project of the State's 1986 March Program, has recently passed the examination of the Ministry of Science and Technology, marking China's attainment of the advanced world level in the research and manufacturing technology of airplane parts and components.

The aim of the Project is to initially set up an integrated system of non-local paper-less design, manufacture and management of aviation industry, make breakthroughs in digitalized designing and pre-assembly and integration of parallel projects and enterprises, and raise the research and manufacturing technology of China's aviation through the application and implementation of multiple engineering projects.

This project was undertaken by the first group company of China Aviation Industry with the participation of its nine departments, Tsinghua University and the Software Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It's reported that this achievement has been applied in the manufacture and sub-contract of planes model, and has brought about great economic and technological benefits in the aspects of shortening the period, cutting cost and improving quality, providing the State with advanced technological means for the research and manufacture of badly needed key plane models.
