East China Port Opens to Foreign Ships

A port in Fujian, a coastal province in southeast China, has recently been approved to open to foreign ships.

The Baima (meaning white horse) Port in eastern Fujian's Fu'an, is the first of its kind that have been opened to foreigners.

Its yearly throughput is 700,000 tons.

At present the port has one small wares wharf with a berth capacity of 3,000 tons and one coal wharf whose berth capacity is 1,500 tons.
