Coastal City Exports More Aquatic Products

The aquatic products base of Qingdao, a coastal city in east China's Shandong province, has reported rapid export growth in aquatic products since the beginning of this year.

According to the latest statistics, Qingdao exported 186,000 tons of aquatic products in the first ten months of the year, up 33 percent from the same period last year.

The exports earned a total of US$410 million. Local officials attributed the export growth to high product quality and strict quarantining standards.

There are now some 100 export-oriented aquatic processing enterprises in Qingdao, of which 63 have qualified to be exported to the US and 41 have been permitted for export to Europe.
