PNA Welcomes Egypt's Recall of Ambassador to Israel
The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) said on Tuesday that it welcomed Egypt's recall of its ambassador to Israel in response to the "escalation of aggression" against the Palestinians by Israel.
In an interview with a local radio, Palestinian Minister of State for Non-government Organization Hassan Asfour termed the Egyptian move a "positive message" to the Arab states, the US and the world community that "Israel should pay for its hostilities against the Palestinian people."
On Tuesday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered an immediate return of Ambassador Mohammed Bassiouni in the wake of the heavy Israeli air strikes on Gaza Monday evening to avenge a bombing attack on a school bus near a Jewish settlement in Gaza, in which two Israelis were killed and nine others wounded.
Israel said that it did not consider recalling its ambassador to Cairo.
