Chinese Scientists Produce New Technique to Adjust Resistor

Chinese scientists have produced a highly efficient device to adjust resistors used for mobile phones, pagers and laptops.

The device, the first of its kind in China, has been developed by research staffs with Changchun Institute of Optical Precision Machinery and Physics in northeast China's Jilin province.

The device can carry out precise adjustment on sheet-shaped resistors by sending a pulse laser beam to cut the conductors on the resistors, as prescribed by the scientists.

Such sheet-shaped resistors are necessary components of telecommunication products.

The scientists said that their newly-developed devices can produce 180,000 quality resistors per hour due to its automatic design and simple technique.

China used to import corresponding devices from the US and Japan at around US$300,000 US per set.
