Yugoslavia Establishes Diplomatic Ties with Slovenia

The Yugoslav government decided November 20 to establish diplomatic relations with Slovenia, said the Federal Secretariat of Information.

After Macedonia and Croatia, Slovenia is the third former Yugoslav republic with which Belgrade is establishing diplomatic relations. Belgrade is expected to establish formal ties with another former Yugoslav republic, Bosnia-Herzegovina, soon.

After the collapse of the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, four republics -- Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia -- became independent; Serbia and Montenegro remained in the new Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
