China Donates Money to Help Mozambican Flood Victims

A visiting delegation from China's National People's Congress (NPC) Monday donated US$200,000 to the Mozambican Assembly to help victims of the floods hit the southern African country in February this year.

The delegation led by its Vice-Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Tian Jiyun arrived in Naputo on November 19 for a four-day working visit to Mozambique.

Deputy Chairman of the Mozambican Assembly Veronica Macamo met with Tian Jiyun and his party on the day.

At the end of the meeting, Macamo told reporters that the Chinese delegation had shown its great concern over the floods in Mozambique that left at least 700 people dead and resulted in huge loss of its economy, and promised its continuous support for it.

China has so far financed the expansion of the Mozambican Assembly's premises, including the construction of new offices, a library and a variety of other facilities.
