PNA Holds Israel and IDF Responsible for Attacks
The Palestinian National Authority on Monday held the Israeli government and the Israel Defense Forces responsible for missile attacks on Palestinian targets in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli helicopter gunships and warships fired at least 40 missiles at the Palestinian targets Monday evening in an apparent retaliation for a bomb attack on a Jewish settlers' school bus early in the day in the Gaza Strip, which left two Israelis dead and nine others wounded.
"The Palestinian leadership holds the Israeli government fully responsible for the criminal attacks against our people, institutions and infrastructure," a Palestinian statement said.
"The Palestinian leadership appeals to the Arab and Muslim peoples and governments, the United Nations, the co-sponsors of the Middle East peace process, the European Union, China, and Japan to step in urgently to protect our people against the Israeli barbaric atrocities," the statement added.
The Israeli attacks rocked the headquarters in Gaza city of the Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement and Fatah's military wing, Tanzim and the Palestinian preventive force, mobile telecommunications facilities and radio and television stations.
The Israeli forces also launched air strikes against Palestinian targets in Rafah, a town near the border with Egypt, and Khan Yunis.
The attacks left at least 25 people wounded.
