Gaza Bombing Grave Terrorist Attack: BarakIsraeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak Monday morning voiced "profound shock" over the bombing of a bus carrying schoolchildren in the Gaza Strip and called it a "grave and extremely serious terrorist attack," Israel Radio reported.It was not immediately known what response Barak is considering to the incident, in which at least two people were killed and 12 others injured. Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami told the radio the attack had been carried out in Area A, the region under full Palestinian control. Over the weekend, Palestinian National Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat issued orders barring Palestinian shooting at Israeli targets from Area A and later the orders were applied to all areas populated by Palestinians. Communications Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer indicated Israel may strongly retaliate for the bombing attack. "There is no such thing as 'there's nothing to be done about it'," Ben-Eliezer told Army Radio. He added that "if this hurts us, it will hurt them (the Palestinians) sevenfold." |
