Premier Zhu Meets Bhutanese FMPremier Zhu Rongji met November 20 with visiting Bhutanese Foreign Minister Lyonpo Jigme Yoeser Thinley, who is in Beijing to attend the 14th round of Sino-Bhutanese border talks.Zhu said that China and Bhutan are good-neighborly countries, and the two countries had close contacts in the past, adding that Sino-Bhutanese relations have developed steadily since the two countries signed an agreement on the maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the border area in 1998. Zhu noted that Chinese government has valued its good-neigborly relations with Bhutan, and is ready to further the cooperation between the two countries in the spirit of the five principles of peaceful co-existence. He voiced his belief that through joint efforts, Sino-Bhutanese relations will be promoted. Thinley delivered the best wishes from Bhutanese King Jigme Singye Wangchuck and Chairman of Council of Ministers Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba to Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Premier Zhu. Tinley said that Bhutanese people admire the achievements the Chinese people have made, and believes that China will make even greater contributions to the development of human kind.
