Cultural Symposium Due Nov. 23-24 Between ROK, China and Japan

A cultural symposium between three countries--Republic of Korea(ROK), China and Japan--will be held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul on Nov. 23-24.

Sponsored by three dailies representing each country --Hankook Ilbo of ROK, People's Daily of China and Yomiuri Shimbun of Japan, a total of 38 esteemed scholars and professionals from the three countries will be attending the forum.

Under the the main theme, ``Localism and Globalism of North-East Asian Cultures,'' the discussion will be divided into five subjects: bloc culture, religious culture, life culture, culture industry and information culture.

The symposium aims to explore possible ways toward a cultural integration of the three countries, who share homogeneous cultural aspects, as well as means toward harmonizing the seemingly clashing elements of foreign and traditional culture.

It also hopes to find a universal meaning existing in the spiritual and traditional cultural values of Asia.

Before the discussion starts, there will be a welcoming reception on Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Westin Chosun. The main discussion will begin after the opening ceremony, which will be held on Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
