Aoshen Trounces Jilin for CBA Opening Win

Aoshen Trounces Jilin for CBA Opening Win
The Vanguard Aoshen trounced the Jilin Northeast Tigers 105-89 on Sunday in the first-round match of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in Beijing.

In their newly constructed Guang'an stadium, Aoshen disposed off Jilin, which were led by last season MVP Sun Jun, with solid defence in the third quarter when they took the game with a 33-19 run in that period.

Center Roy James dominated the lane with 25 points, 10 rebounds and two assists while forward Yuan Zhinan buried Jilin with 3-pointers, contributing 19 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

"We gave them no chance to score on fast break with our defence," said point guard Zhu Feng of Aoshen.

Jilin coach Wang Changyou said, "I did badly to hold the composure in the whole game." Sun Jun and Jilin center Jie Jun got 25 and 23 respectively.

The Beijing Ducks had their 11-point lead almost cut off but held onto a 86-85 win over the Liaoning Hunters in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.

Another Liaoning team, the Shenyang Army, also lost at home as they were crashed by the Shandong Flaming Bulls 108-84.

In other matches, the Jiangsu Dragons beat the Jinan Army on the road, 96-82, while Guangdong Hongyuan defeated Zhejiang Cyclones 116-111 at home.
