Chongqing to Become Major Railway Hub in SW China

With a approval given Saturday to build the Chongqing-Huaihua railway, Chongqing is to become the largest railway hub in southwest China. Chongqing, China's youngest municipality, is the starting point for three electrified railway lines, leading to Chengdu, Guiyang and Xiangfan respectively.

With the building of the Chongqing-Huaihua and Chongqing-Suining railway lines, another trunk line linking west China with east and south China will be formed, and Chongqing will play an important role in China's railway transportation, according to local officials.
