IT Industry Grows Fast in East China

The IT industry has grown fast in east China's Jiangsu Province, with its output value expected to hit 100 billion yuan this year.

Yan Li, head of the Province's IT Industry Department, predicted that it will realize a sales income of 62.5 billion yuan and US$2.8 billion in export volume.

The sector will account for 2.6 percent of Jiangsu's Gross Domestic Product, compared with the 1.1 percent five years ago, he said.

He attributed the growth mainly to the fast increase in IT's manufacturing technology, the development of software and the step- up efforts in expanding computer networks.

Statistics indicate that the province has produced more than 4 million color TV sets this year while setting up 16 large computer information networks, which have over 1 million users.
