Major Equipment Arrives for Tianwan Nuclear Power StationThe first batch of major equipment produced by Russia for the Sino-Russian Tianwan Nuclear Power Station was shipped to the port city of Lianyungang in east China's Jiangsu province Friday.Located in Lianyungang, the Tianwan Nuclear Power Station is the largest cooperative project between the two countries. The equipment was produced under the supervision of more than 40 Chinese nuclear specialists in Russia. The first phase construction of the power project started in October 1999 and is scheduled to finish in 2004. The second-phase construction began in September and is expected to be completed in 2005. All 813 pieces of the equipment, in 16 batches, weighing 22,000 tons in total are expected to arrive by March 2004. China now has four nuclear power projects under construction. The other three are the second and third phases of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Station in east China's Zhejiang Province and the Ling'ao Nuclear Power Station in south China's Guangdong Province. |
