HK Cruise Community Launches Collective Promotion Campaign

Eleven leading cruise companies in Hong Kong launched a collectively promotion campaign on Saturday to enhance popularity of the growing cruise industry.

At the first Cruise Day sponsored by the Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents (HATA), those cruise companies presented a full range of cruise alternatives and colorful activities on board.

Joining Saturday's Cruise Day were Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Lin and Start Line, among other cruise companies. Except for Star Cruises which have their own offices in Hong Kong, these international cruise ship companies are represented by general sales agents in Hong Kong.

According to HATA sources, interest in cruise holidays has been on the rise, thanks to increase promotion in Hong Kong and the rest of Asia, and cruising has now become a widely accepted form of holiday and a travel trend in Hong Kong.

As the most recent statistics show, the most welcomed destinations are Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia.

The HATA Cruise Day will be held annually afterwards to promote cruising to consumers and to raise their awareness of the cruise experience, the HATA sources said.
