Famous Chinese Place of Beauty Listed As UNESCO Biosphere Member

A famous place of beauty in southwest China's Sichuan province, Huanglong, has been recently listed by UNESCO as an international biosphere network member, an official source said November 18.

According to the provincial tourism administration, Huanglong is the third place in the province to be given this title after Jiuzhaigou and Wolong, both habitats of the endangered giant panda.

A top national tourism attraction, Huanglong is located in the northwestern part of Sichuan and is famous for its clean and colorful water ponds, natural forests and snow mountains.

It was listed as one of the world's natural heritage's by UNESCO in 1992.

The UNESCO biosphere network was sponsored in 1971 as an inter-government scientific research organization, which aims to better

protect the bio-diversity, maintain the balance of the ecosystem and promote the sustained use of nature.
