China's Exports of Machinery and Electronics Products Surge

China has now become one of the leading exporters of machinery and electronics products in the world, latest statistics show.

The country's exports of machinery and electronics products reached US$85.8 billion during the first 10 months of the year, up 39.9 percent from the same period last year.

The exports of garments and textile products, formerly China's largest exports, however, only reached US$43.47 billion.

The total export value of the country from January to October totaled US$205.1 billion, up 32.2 percent.

Electric appliances and electronics products are the largest single export category. Their export value reached US$37.04 billion, up 42 percent.

The exports of machinery hit US$21.92 billion, up 44.6 percent.

The United States remained the largest importer of China's machinery and electronics products. Exports to the US in the first nine months alone, according to figures from the General Administration of Customs, reached US$15.867 billion, up 35 percent from that of last year.

Other leading importers of the machinery and electronics products were the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the European Union, Japan, Singapore and China's Taiwan Province.
