Medical Cooperation in Northwest China Province

Over the past three years, northwest China's Gansu Province has carried out various international medical cooperation projects to promote the development of local medical and health sectors.

During this period, more than 100 experts and officials from the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States, Britain and Japan have been invited to give lectures, attend technology seminars and treat patients in Gansu.

At the same time, the province has signed ten cooperation agreements with a total value of 140 million yuan on medical technology, medical equipment, medical aids to the poverty- stricken and professional training.

To date, more than 3,600 people in poverty-stricken areas received treatment by overseas doctors. Overseas doctors also performed operations for over 3,000 patients across the province with eye diseases.

In addition, local medical staff have been involved in comprehensive research cooperation projects with overseas counterparts in medical science.
