China's Transport Sectors See Stable Growth During January-October

China's civil aviation achieved gross transport turnover of 10.1 billion ton-kilometers in the first ten months of 2000, up 14.3 percent on an annual basis.

Statistics from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) indicate that the industry carried 57 million passengers during the period, up 10.6 percent, and transported freight and post cargo of 1.6 million tons, an increase of 14.5 percent.

The country's railways sector also registered a significant increase in the period. Official figures show that the industry carried 865 million passengers in the ten months, with an annual growth of 4.5 percent.

The cargo transport volume reached a record of 1.37 billion tons, up 5.3 percent.

During the period, the sector earned 91.69 billion yuan, 8.39 billion yuan more than that in the same period last year.
