The
Hong Kong
Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) signed an agreement concerning readmission of persons with
Germany
Friday.
The agreement provides on a reciprocal basis for the readmission by one contracting party of certain persons coming from the territory of the other contracting party.
Anson Chan, administrative secretary of the HKSAR and German Federal Interior Minister Otto Schily signed on the document in Hong Kong.
The bilateral negotiations on the agreement started in September. Both parties feel that the swift conclusion of the agreement highlights the constructive and close co-operation between Hong Kong and Germany in fighting illegal migration, said a spokesman for the HKSAR government.
