Outcome of US Presidential Elections Won't Affect Relations: Hasina

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday said outcome of the United States presidential polls would not affect the existing good relations between Dhaka and Washington.

"It is an established norm of the US government that its foreign policy remains unchanged with the change of party in the White House," the prime minister said while addressing a press conference on her return from the OIC summit.

She said Bangladesh's relations with the United States have enhanced and developed during the present government. At the same time, US investment also increased in a massive scale, she added.

"Our relations have been cemented further through the first ever historic visit of an US president to Bangladesh and subsequent official visit of mine to Washington at the invitation of President Bill Clinton," Hasina said.

Our relations would not affect in any way whoever might be the new president at the White House, she stressed.
