National Film Festival and Int'l Folk Songs Festival Ready
Organizers of the 9th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival and 2000 Nanning International Arts Festival of Folk Songs announced November 16 that they have completed all preparations for the upcoming festivals in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The film festival is scheduled to start Thursday evening at Tonggutai of Mount Qingxiu, while the folk songs festival is scheduled to open Friday evening at Guangxi Stadium, organizers said.
The annual China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival is considered the most important event among the country's film circles. Activities during the festival include a movie award ceremony, a large-scale display on new domestic and overseas films, academic discussions, film trade and other arts exchange, said Zhang Sitao, secretary-general of China Film Association.
Zhang said the opening ceremony will consist of several parts, such as a performance featuring local ethnic traditions, other arts performances and a mass celebration.
He also said that the announcements of award-winners will take place at the award ceremony in the evening of November 21.
In tandem with the film festival, Nanning International Arts Festival of Folk Songs is expected to display characteristics of local minorities and cultural exchange between China and other countries.
During the folk songs festival, song and dance galas, model shows and activities concerning folk songs and singing contests will be carried out, according to the organizers.
