Guangxi Investment Trade Fair Opens

An investment and trade fair was held November 16 in Nanning the capital city of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Over 7,000 businessmen, including some 1,000 from abroad, attended the fair, which was co-sponsored by the autonomous regional government, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Canada's association for the promotion of economy and technology, and other organizations.

Major activities during the five-day fair included business inviting, science and technological cooperation and an exhibition of local products.

More than 70 large project contracts with a total investment of over 17 billion yuan (over two billion US dollars) are scheduled to be signed at the fair. The foreign investment of the projects is expected to reach one billion US dollars.

The projects will cover infrastructure construction, technological renovation, high-tech industry, tourism and other sectors.

In succession to the investment and trade fair, the Ninth Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, the most prestigious film festival in the Chinese cinema, and an international folk songs art festival are soon to be held in the city.
