Gore Proposes to Meet With Bush

US Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore proposed Wednesday to meet personally with his Republican rival George W. Bush.

The vice president said he offered to meet with Bush "not to negotiate but to improve the tone of our dialogue in America.''

He also suggested that another one-to-one meeting take place after the winner of the presidential election is decided to affirm national unity.

Gore told reporters that he will abide by Florida recount if his Republican rival George W. Bush agrees to allow hand count in three Democratic counties, Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade.

He said that is also prepared to include all Florida counties in a recount.

"This is a time to respect every voter and every vote," he said. "This is the time to honor the true will of the people."

With legal war between the two sides going on in state and federal courts, Gore said he wanted to break the deadlock between

the two camps.

It was not clear how Bush camp will respond.
