India Rejects OIC Resolution on Kashmir

India Wednesday outright rejected a resolution adopted by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) on Kashmir, saying it had no "locus standi" on matters relating to India's internal affairs.

"As we have indicated on earlier occasions, we reject all such resolutions," a foreign office spokesman told the media here, adding "the OIC has no locus standi on matters relating to India's internal affairs".

In a resolution passed earlier today in Doha, Islamic leaders reportedly "condemned flagrant violations of human rights in Kashmir and called on member states to take all necessary measures to convince India to put an immediate end to these violations".

The resolution also called for "the people of Kashmir to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination".

New Delhi has dismissed such resolutions, which it said mooted by Pakistan, over the years.
