Beijing Initiates Construction of Micro-electronic Base

An incubator for micro-electronic designing was established November 15 in Beijing by two local technical institutes on micro-electronics and automatic testing.

The founding of the incubator marked the beginning of an micro- electronics base project, one of the four first-class high-tech industrial bases in Beijing.

The other three industrial bases will cover the sectors of software, bio-medicine and new materials.

Beijing plans to turn itself into a micro-electronic base in 10 years. It will optimize local micro-electronic resources and the research capacity of related enterprises and institutions to enhance competitiveness in the international market, according to Luan Enjie, vice minister of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense.

The incubator system will provide 6,000 sq.m for about 30 micro-electronic enterprises and offer all kinds of services such as designing, testing, analyzing, evaluating and financing. Within the system, enterprises will be able to enjoy investment preferential policies.

Beijing is a leading city in developing software products related to micro-electronics and Internet technology in China. It is also home to the most researchers and professionals in the country.
