Northeastern Chinese City Increases Minimum Wage Standard

Shenyang, capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, will increase the minimum wage to 320 yuan (about US$38.6) per month, an increase of about 30 percent from the former 240 yuan (almost US$29).

The new standard will be applied to employees of all types in the city, including those in the overseas-funded companies, according to officials with the local labor bureau.

Local enterprises should pay no less than 320 yuan to employees every month if they finish their tasks within the allocated time.

The new minimum wage was based on the social average wage, the provincial minimum wage standard, the present economic level and other standards.
