Russian Foreign Minister to Visit Poland

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov will pay an official visit to Poland from November 22 to 23, Russian ambassador Iergiej Razow announced Tuesday.

During his visit, Ivanov will meet Polish leaders and meet with his counterpart Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, Razow said.

Bilateral relations between Russia and Poland are improving, said the Russian ambassador, adding that he hopes the "two sides will deepen their understanding on key issues and promote the development of bilateral relations."

However, Bartoszewski said he "doesn't show as much hope for Ivanov's visit; Poland only wishes to make progress on normalizing relations."

Ivanov is the first foreign minister to visit the Poland within two years after bilateral relations froze when nine Russian diplomats were driven out by Poland this year.
