"Silicon Valley" to Be Built in GuilinThe "Guilin Electronic Information City" Project, a project functioning to promote Guilin's economic development, will be launched soon in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The start-up of the project marks the rise of a modern "silicon valley" in Guangxi.Guilin Electronic Information City covers an area of one square km, projects to be built here mainly include an electronic information street, an electronic information square, an electronic formation industrial base and a software development park. Guilin plans to set up a large, fully functioning electronic information software industrial park in five years. Guilin Electronic Information City enjoys the favorable policies of Guilin National Hi-Tech Development Zone. It owns the city-level management power and takes direct charge of the examination and approval of project establishment, land remise and construction program, ratification of joint ventures and domestic enterprises, the confirmation of hi-tech enterprises, and the administrative management of labor and personnel. The city also adopts the policy of free management charges. Enterprises within the city will be asked to pay only taxes, not operational expenses. Its policies on investment invitation and support of enterprise development are all more favorable than the relevant preferential policies for the Guilin National Hi-Tech Development Zone. |
