HK Approves Funds for Film Promotion at Cannes Film Festival
Hong Kong has recently approved funding of 3.5 million HK dollars (US$448,000) for a project which aims to enhance the international status of Hong Kong films, according to a government press release Wednesday.
Approved by the Project Vetting Committee of the Film Development Fund), the project is "Promotion of Hong Kong Films at the Cannes Film Festival." It is a major publicity event to be organized jointly by the Film Services Office of the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in May 2001.
The fund will be used to expand overseas market and promote Hong Kong as an ideal place for film shooting.
With the fund, the publicity activities will include a spectacular gala called "Hong Kong Night," a movie show of Hong Kong films, promotional booths set up at the festival's International Village, and advertisement in famous international film magazines to attract worldwide attention.
