Sino-German Joint Project to Protect Agricultural Environment
A Sino-German joint project aiming to protect the environment in the development of agriculture in northern China has been launched recently in east China's Shandong Province.
Through the implementation of the project, China will introduce advanced technology and management expertise on pesticides, chemical fertilizers and the treatment of livestock droppings.
According to the State Environmental Protection Administration, the joint project will help lessen the reliance on chemical fertilizers, the dependence on pesticides for prevention of diseases and negligence in treating farm waste.
The project will also help reduce the amount of pesticide remaining in vegetables, fruit and other agricultural produces, improve the quality of soil and promote environmental-friendly agricultural production in China.
Experts say that agriculture has pushed forward the rapid development of China's agricultural economy, but, on the other hand, has led to the poorer quality of China's agricultural products and to an increase in production costs.
Germany, one of the most advanced countries in agricultural ecology, has advanced expertise in chemical pollution control and treatment of livestock droppings.
Experts believe that the project will not only accelerate environmental-friendly agricultural development in China but will also set a good example for the western regions of China.
