Clinton Addresses APEC Business Leaders on US Election

US President Bill Clinton Wednesday talked lightheartedly about the US election dispute, saying "this has been a rather interesting week in the United States."

Addressing business leaders at the APEC Business Advisory Council meeting, Clinton said, "One of the things that I think we have learned is that we should all be very careful about making predictions about the future. I just don't know who will be here next year."

He believed the United States is stable and unshaken by the election impasse at home, stressing that he is confident that this is proceeding under the rule of law and in conjunction with set procedures.

Clinton arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday night to attend the APEC Informal leadership meeting Thursday. On the sidelines of the meeting, Clinton will also make his farewell meeting with Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and South Korean President Kim Dae-jung.
