US Court Rejects Republican Request to Stop Hand Recount in FloridaA US federal court in Miami November 13 rejected a Republican lawsuit and refused to stop hand recounts of presidential votes in some counties in Florida.US District Judge Donald Middlebrooks said that stopping hand recounts is not a matter for federal courts to decide and it is the business of state court. "While I share a desire for finality, I do not believe it is served" by involving a federal court, he said after hearing arguments from lawyers representing Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush and his Democratic rival Vice President Al Gore.
