Chinese President Leaves Shenzhen for Brunei, APEC Meeting

President Jiang Zemin left Shenzhen Tuesday evening for a state visit to Brunei and the 8th Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Informal Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, capital city of Brunei.

Jiang arrived here Tuesday afternoon after concluding the state visit to Laos and Cambodia.

During his stay in Shenzhen, Jiang attended the commemorating conference of the establishment of the Shenzhen special economic zone and unveiled the curtain of the statue of China's former leader Deng Xiaoping.

Among those greeting and seeing Jiang off at the airport were member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC Li Changchun, and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Wang Gang.

Jiang's entourage includes his wife Wang Yeping, Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and his wife Zhou Hanqiong, member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Zeng Qinghong�� Minister in charge of the State Development Planning Commission Zeng Peiyan, Director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee Teng Wensheng.
