Egypt Grants Visa-Free Treatment to Macao Residents

Egypt has granted visa-free treatment to passport holders of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, the Macao Daily News reported November 14.

The paper quoted officials with the Identification Services of the Macao SAR government as saying that, beginning from November 13, Macao SAR passport holders can enter Egypt with visa-free treatment and stay for up to 30 days each time for the purposes of traveling, business activities and transit.

In return, holders of Egyptian passport, with the same visa-free treatment, can enter the Macao SAR and stay for 30 days each time.

So far, 51 countries have recognized the Macao SAR passport and eight countries have given visa-free treatment to the passport holders.

Government sources also said that Thailand, one of the favored tourist destinations for Macao residents, is expected to grant visa-free access to Macao SAR passport holders in the first half of next year.
