Senior Chinese, Russian Military Leaders on Bilateral Cooperation

China hopes to maintain a good momentum in the development of Sino-Russian military relations with the joint efforts of both sides, said Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) November 14 in Beijing.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that Sino-Russian relations have developed smoothly in recent years, referring to the frequent exchange of visits between the leaders of the two countries and the expansion of cooperation in all fields.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Valeri Manilov, first deputy chief of general staff of the Russian armed forces. Manilov is here attending the fourth round of meetings between the headquarters of PLA general staff and the Russian armed forces.

Fu noted that the PLA has attached importance to developing the friendly relations with its Russian counterparts, and the armed forces of the two countries have cooperated in all fields in recent years.

Manilov said that the meetings between Chinese and Russian armed forces are an important component in the relations between Russia and China, focusing on cementing the common grounds reached by the leaders of the two countries and safeguarding world peace, stability and security.

He noted that Russia has valued its relations with China, and hopes to promote the cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.
