Int'l Food Fair to Be Held in Central China City

The sixth China International Food Fair will open on December 12 in Wuhan, one of the major cities in the middle reaches of Yangtze River.

Sources from the organizing committee said that the fair has 810 business booths, and so far, 73 domestic governmental delegations and overseas companies have expressed their willingness to attend the three-day fair.

Daily food consumption volume in Wuhan, also capital of Hubei Province, is worth 120 million yuan (about US14.46 million) to 150 million yuan (18.1 million U.S. dollars), and 180 million yuan (US21.69 million) worth of food are traded daily in this central Chinese city.

The city has hosted four out of the past five fairs with an attendance of over 4,000 domestic and overseas food producers and trade companies and 17.8 billion yuan worth of business deals being concluded.

During this year's fair, a food forum will also be held in cooperation with United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
