Telecom Companies Host Charity Sale in Shanghai

A two-month-long sale of goods for charity was initiated by four famous telecom companies Monday in Shanghai, China's largest commercial center.

The four companies are: the Shanghai Mobile Communication Co., Ericsson Mobile Communications Co. Ltd. (China), Panda Communications System Co., and Shanghai Xunwang Communication Electronics Appliances Co. Ltd..

About 200 mobile phones and 200 phone cards were sold, and the 260,000 yuan (31,300 US dollars) from the first-day sale was donated to the Shanghai Charity Foundation.

The fund will be used to pay for an operation for a local orphan, said Chen Suxian, general manager of the Shanghai Mobile Communications Co.
