China Aircraft Expo. in Tune with International PracticesThe management and operation of the Third China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, which ended November 12 in Zhuhai, have won wide acclaim from international aircraft companies. In a letter sent by the Society British Aerospace Companies Ltd. to the organizing committee of the show, the company hailed the exposition as a world-class aerospace show, and extended its wish to establish long-term business relations with their Chinese counterparts. The exposition has drawn increasing attention from its regular participants of Boeing, United Technology, Airbus, Sukhol and Rolls-Royce PLC. The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., which is composed of a number of aircraft and aerospace players, such as German Daimler Chrysler Aerospace, French Aerospatial and Spanish CASA,made their first show at the exposition this year. New faces were also seen at the show, from Brazil, South Africa and the Republic of Korea. The exposition, held biennially, has had its routine proceedings simplified, according to international practices. Unlike the arrangement of the first and the second session, there were no presidium and places for spectators at the exposition this year, which was divided into the business and public show portions. The business portion was held at the first three days of the exposition, when 30 contracts were signed with the total transactions worth 6.4 billion yuan (US$771 million) and 70 planes changed hands. Over 40 symposiums, promotional drives of aviation products and contract-signing ceremonies were arranged during the three days. "Professionalism has become the soul of the international aerospace expositions," said Zou Jinfeng, chairman of the board of Zhuhai Airshow Co. Ltd. The exhibition area of the show was expanded by 35 percent, compared with the first two sessions to 12,436 square meters of floor space. Over 400 companies from 27 countries and regions took part in the exposition.
