Macedonia to Sign Stability Deal With EU: President

Macedonian President Boris Ajkovski has said that his country will sign a stability and association agreement with the European Union at the upcoming EU-Balkans summit to be held in Zagreb on November 24, the Macedonian News Agency reported Saturday.

Ajkovski made the remarks after he met visiting EU senior official Javier Solana Friday evening.

During the meeting, Ajkovski discussed with Solana ways of strengthening Macedonia-EU relations. The two welcomed the latest "positive" developments in the Balkans, said Ajkovski, adding that the Zagreb gathering would issue a statement on the developments.

Solana told the news agency that ties between the EU and Southeast European countries will be enhanced after the summit.

Solana arrived in Macedonia from a trip to Albania.
