S. Korean Movie Delegation Leaves for Pyongyang

An 11-member delegation of South Korean movie industry left Seoul Saturday for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Saturday for a seven-day visit.

It is the first South Korean movie industry delegation to visit the DPRK since the Korean peninsula was divided in 1945.

The delegation, with the South Korean government's permission, will donate 21 South Korean films to the DPRK.

During its visit, the delegation will meet DPRK counterparts to discuss the possibility of joint film programs.

The two sides are also expected to discuss other possibilities including mutual use of studios, film preservation projects, the release of South Korean films in the DPRK and the introduction of DPRK films at Pusan International Film Festival, which is held every September in the largest port city of South Korea.
