Tourism Fair Starts in Eastern China City

A tourism promotion drive began Friday in Hangzhou, a major tourist city in east China's Zhejiang Province.

About 12 delegations from other parts of China and 2,000 tourists took part in the three-day event.

The participants also include officials from various city's tourism departments, said a senior official with Hangzhou Tourism Bureau, adding that this will enhance Hangzhou's connection with them.

In the following days, business exchanges, exhibitions and seminars will be staged, the official said.

Zhejiang has 46 scenic spots at the state and provincial levels and many historical sites. In the first six months of the year, 502,000 overseas and 28 million domestic tourists visited Zhejiang, up 13.9 percent and 15.5 percent, respectively, from a year earlier.
