Chinese Ethnic Group To Hold "Lusheng Festival"

China's first Miao ethnic group autonomous county, the Rongshui county in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will hold its first "Lusheng Festival" from November 25 to 27.

The Lusheng is a kind of wind musical instrument, usually played by the Miao and some other ethnic groups in south China.

Jia Wenda, head of Rongshui county, told a press conference Friday that 1,500 Lusheng players will perform for visitors during the event.

They will also stage traditional singing, dancing and a series of folk art activities during the three-day festival, Jia said.

He said that he expected the event to help promote the county's tourism sector.

Located in northwest Guangxi, Rongshui is famous for its landscape and cultural heritage. It receives an average of approximately 200,000 tourists every year.
