China Selects Top Ten Prosecutors

After nine days of examinations and speaking contests, China chose its first ever group of top ten prosecutors Friday.

If the contestants are not faulted for any wrongdoing by the public during the next ten days, they will be officially crowned as China's first batch of top ten prosecutors.

Another 64 contestants were also awarded for their professional performances by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

Zhang Qiong, deputy procurator-general of the SPP, said that the contests have been a review of the professional proficiency of the country's 170,000 prosecutors, and have helped the procuratorial bodies find top personnel.

The top 10 prosecutors will also serve as models for procuratorial workers in their pursuit of excellence in work, Zhang said.
