India, China Discuss Adjustment of WTO-Related Laws

India and China exchanged views November 10 on the steps needed to be taken for compliance of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements and the necessary adjustments in the domestic laws keeping in view the WTO regulations.

A six-member high powered Chinese delegation led by Yang Jingyu, minister in charge of legislative affairs of China's State ouncil met Indian Law Minister Arun Jaitley here and apprised him of the steps taken by China toward globalization and market economy and adjustment of its legal and judicial system to meet the emerging challenges, an official release said.

Jaitley gave a broad outline of the legal measures that have been taken by India to meet the obligations under WTO and further steps that are being taken to adjust its laws to meet the challenges of globalization and market economy, it added.

During the 30-minute meeting, the two officials also discussed matters of mutual interest in the field of legal and judicial affairs, said the release.
