S. Korea Posts Trade Surplus with China, Europe, USSouth Korea registered a total surplus of more than US$15 billion in trade with China, Europe and the United States in the first nine months of this year, the Commerce, Industry and Energy Ministry announced Friday.According to released statistics, South Korea gained a trade surplus of 11.6 billion, 2.5 billion and 1 billion dollar from China, Europe and the US, respectively. However, South Korea recorded a deficit of US$11.1 billion in its trade with Japan due to an import rise of high-tech machinery, a figure above last year's deficit of 10.7 billion dollars, said the ministry. The government has set the target of its trade surplus for 2000 at 10 billion dollars. |
