China Donates Library Building to Cambodian Senate

President of the Cambodia's Senate Samdech Chea Sim and Chinese Ambassador Ning Fukui laid the foundation stone of the library and office buildings Friday (November 10) morning in the Chamcar Mon compound of the Senate.

At the inauguration ceremony of construction of the library and office building, the Chinese ambassador said that the donation was a new signal of the friendly cooperation and fraternal feeling between the two countries.

He wished that the Senate, under the leadership of President Chea Sim, would make greater achievements in the restoration and reconstruction of economy in the country.

"These donations open a new page for the new steps of our senate to be taken toward upgrading its quality and efficiency," said President Chea Sim at the inauguration ceremony.

"The Senate, the National Assembly, the Government and the People of Cambodia will nourish and preserve forever the friendly relationship, solidarity and cooperation which we have maintained in all the traditional fields with the People's Republic of China," Chea Sim noted.

The construction of the Senate library and three office buildings, donated by the Chinese government and scheduled to be completed within 9 months, will cost RMB16.41 million Yuan (about US$2 million).
